FAQ

My daughter wants to play Fast Pitch softball next season. How do I sign her up?

There will be an open registration period from November 1st thru December 31st. Registration and payments will be made via the Olmsted Community Center (OCC) website.

How much does it cost and do I need to pay in full at time of registration?

The cost for the 2017 season will be $145 per player. Due to the need to outlay cash to the league in which we play shortly after our registration period, we are not able to offer a partial payment plan.

Why do we need to register so early?

Our league requires all teams to be declared by the end of January.

If my daughter changes her mind, can I receive a refund?

The Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association is asking for your commitment during the registration period. Teams will be formed based on the number of players registered, and association funds are paid out shortly after the registration period based on this commitment. We are unable to refund monies already paid out.

What if my daughter decides she wants to play after the deadline?

Immediately after the registration deadline, rosters will be formed and teams will be declared. There is no guarantee your daughter will be able to be rostered. Meeting this deadline is a must for the League, the Association, coaches and teammates.

When is the Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch season?

Games are played mid-May through the end-of-season tournament in late July, with each team playing 16-18 games. Indoor practices typically begin during February and March, with outdoor practices beginning in April (weather permitting).

Do teams travel far to play games?

The Emerald Necklace league is mostly comprised of communities within Cuyahoga County with a few Lorain and Medina teams. Games are half at home, half on the road.

My daughter played last year, do I need to register before the deadline?

Yes. All players wishing to play within the Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association must register via the OCC website and pay in full before the deadline.

My daughter played last year, will she play for the same coach/team?

Possibly. Teams will be formed based upon the number of players registered, age eligibility and level of ability of the player.

My daughter player last year, does she need to try-out?

No, returning players will not need to be evaluated for the 2017 season. Coaches have given the Association evaluation forms for each player coached during the 2016 season.

This will be my daughters first year, does she need to try-out?

The Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association asks that all players who did not play on a team within our Association attend an evaluation day during the 3rd weekend of January. This evaluation will allow coaches to view the player’s ability and make a recommendation as to what level would allow for the most success of the player.

Does the Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association have cuts?

The Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association does not have ‘cuts’. We will work diligently to find a team for every registered player.

Is a payment plan or other financial assistance available?

In addition to being a “no-cut” organization, no child will be left out due to financial reasons. Please contact the Olmsted Girls Fast Pitch Association Board in confidence to discuss.
